The Plymouth Development Corporation was established in 1993 to develop land in Plymouth Docklands. Its flagship developments included the Royal William Yard. During its lifetime 129,000 sq ft (12,000 m²). of non-housing development and 99 housing units were built. Around 427 new jobs were created and some £8m of private finance was leveraged in. Circa 3 miles (4.8 km) of new road and footpaths put in place.[1]
The Chairman was Sir Robert Gerken and the Chief Executive was J Collinson. It was dissolved in 1998.
