[edit] Egg size

A plover's egg is often used as a reference of size; e.g., "a diamond as big as a plover's egg." I think this article should refer to the expression. I'd add it, but I don't know how big a plover's egg is. 172.144.153.189 01:54, 1 July 2007 (UTC)RKH

[edit] Pronunciation

How is plover pronounced? Are there different ways of doing this? I think this would make a useful addition to this page as I have had numerous people ask me this question and I don't know what to tell them. Cazort (talk) 23:43, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

To rhyme with 'lover'. Maias (talk) 03:14, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Can you find a source for this? Cazort (talk) 17:22, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Crocodile dental hygenists?

Is it true that one plover has a symbiotic relationship with the Nile crocodile and will clean its teeth without being harmed? If so, which species is this? HuskyHuskie (talk) 15:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

The Egyptian Plover is the bird you want, but it's not proven jimfbleak (talk) 16:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. HuskyHuskie (talk) 18:29, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Despite it's name, Egyptian Plover is in a different subfamily to these. I've also reverted your good faith edits to restore the list to show relationships. jimfbleak (talk) 05:35, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
