[edit] User Plcoffey Incomplete list of parasite related stub articles
Hi. The title of this page was malformed, I've moved it to User:Plcoffey/Incomplete list of parasite related stub articles so that it's in your User space. Corvus cornixtalk 06:48, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Corvus/Crow/Raven
Might I suggest you drop a note to this user on this subject? He seems to have originated the Corvus to Crow redirect, and certainly seems to know his stuff bird wise and wikipedia wise. Mstuczynski (talk) 15:08, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- "I've proposed that the current crow/raven pages be merged into the Corvus (genus) page, with smaller sub pages dedicated to information unique to crows and ravens( as well as the current pages Jackdaw and Rook." - Rook of course is a nicely developing species page. Apart from that, I can only say: Sounds good!
- For the genus page, I would ultimately revert to a systematic/taxonomic list (as used by other genus pages). For Crow, Raven etc, I think the geographical layout is better, helping people to ID their crows and ravens. The ravens, Rook, jackdaws could be briefly (no scientific name or so, but distinguish Northern from Western and Chihuahuan for example) indicated in the Crow geographical list, and the closest Crow relatives on the Raven page.
- Crow and Raven would be heavy in "human culture" stuff, where there is the largest difference. Corvus (genus) would be heavy in systematics stuff. Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 19:30, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- I threw in some ideas...feel free to edit at will.cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Cat:Parasite Stubs
You made a small mistake that is most easily fixed by you, since as the creator, you can request speedy deletion. The correct name according to the stub naming guidelines is Cat:Parasite stubs with a lowercase s instead of a capital S. Caerwine Caer’s whines 20:19, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I think I've fixed the problem, and the page is now up for Speedy Deletion.Plcoffey (talk) 22:37, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] flatworm-stub
I've only been creating them as I've needed them while sorting Cat:Invertebrate stubs. Since you say you need it, I've gone ahead and created {{flatworm-stub}}. However since not all flatworms are parasitic, you'll need to add parasite-stub as well unlike {{acanthocephalan-stub}}, which adds the critters to Cat:Parasite stubs as well as Cat:Invertebrate stubs since all acanthocephalans are parasites. [edit] Corvus/crow/raven
Since there was no discussion for around 6 weeks, it appeared to be a stale issue. I generally think it's okay to remove discussion templates when people have stopped discussion for long periods of time, since the templates themselves look pretty ugly when they just sit at the top of articles. They do serve a purpose, but when nobody is acting on that purpose, they've outlived their usefulness. Just my opinion.
If there's been no further discussion, then you're probably safe to proceed with your suggestion to merge everything under Corvus. Wikipedia encourages us to be bold. It doesn't make a huge difference to me if they're merged or not, I just think that we should choose one path or the other since discussion has gone stale and people seem to have lost interest. :-) Best wishes.
