JUPITER VIDAD
Musical Director. Music Instructor. Choir Conductor. Composer. Arranger. Concert Pianist.
If one were to describe the many vocations of Jupiter Vidad, you’d find an underlying passion for two things, God and music, his pursuit of both beginning at an early age. At six he was already a soloist for “Pambatang Papuri,” a Christian singing group for children. Shortly thereafter he began to play the piano, and by the age of 17 he had already performed his first solo concert. Ironically while growing up, Jupiter never had formal piano lessons. As a little boy, he remembers sitting in front of the piano with his music book praying and asking God to be his teacher. But his faith did not go unrewarded. With the Lord as his mentor and his skills honed through the years, Jupiter grew up to be an established concert pianist with several recordings and hundreds of concerts to his credit. Jupiter has performed a piano concert in various venues around the country like SM Super Malls (mall tour), The Podium, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP Main Theater), MERALCO THEATER, PICC Plenary Hall, just to name a few and venues in Hong Kong, China and Singapore. He was also a part of the team of “The Ultimate Pianist and OPUSFEST”- the International Piano Festival 2006.
In 1997, he was hand picked by Audie Gemora (Main Character of “Joseph the Dreamer Musical” and King of Philippine Musical Theater) as a pianist for TRUMPETS Playshop (up to the present). He is also presently one of the instructors of TRUMPETS Playshop’s MUSICADEMY where an Asia’s Pop Idol and ABS-CBN’s Star in a Million’s most popular runner-up Christian Bautista was being trained. He was also recommended by Audie to be one of the Music Directors of TRUMPETS Playshop. His talent also brought him to Hong Kong where he served as Music Director for Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. He also completed further studies in piano at the University of the Philippines, College of Music (2004).
He has directed numerous of musicals with over a hundred showcases such as the masterpieces of David T. Clydesdale namely “From Heaven’s Throne” & “Let All Heaven Rejoice”, Cam Floria’s “Joseph the Dreamer (the Christian Artists’ Version)”, “Deck the Mall” with ACTS, “Festival of Lights”, “My Utmost for His Highest”, “The Masterpiece of Praise” and more. These musicals were held in various venues around the country and abroad. Soon, he will be directing the most awaited musical “David, A man After God’s Own Heart” by Cam Floria.
Few of his compositions include the theme song for PNRC entitled “Red Cross, The Power of Humanity” (1999) and Sandiganbayan’s Hymn - “Sandiganbayan, The Pillar of Our Nation” (2005).
As his way of giving back to the Lord, Jupiter has taken this gift of music and invested it in God’s work. Currently most of his time is spent as the President of Christian Artist, Inc. and Musicworx Ministries, Inc. (MMI) – a group of music missionaries who are dedicated to spreading the Word of God through music. His constant prayer is that he not only be allowed to spend the rest of his life making beautiful music while serving the Lord but that he may challenge others to do the same with their lives, one way or the other.
