[edit] Expansion and cleanup
This article could use some expansion and cleanup. Half of the article is about a sub-type of a sub-type of plating. I think that the advantages and disadvantages should be summarized in a few sentences to trim that section down. The other sections just need expansion. I added the expert tag, as I think few editors have this kind of knowledge. -- Kjkolb 15:48, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Need definition of substrate
This article needs a definition of what a substrate is. J. Finkelstein 05:07, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tinplate
This article says nothing about tinplate, or about galvanising (which is zinc coating). Peterkingiron 23:19, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Electro Plating
This article needs to be renamed electroplating. [Anonymous]
- I disagree. There is a need for an article providing an overview of plating as a whole. Electroplating is just one branch of the subject. It may be that the material on electroplating needs to become a separate article, to stand along side others on galvanising and tinplate. Peterkingiron 22:39, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
the article you wrote about the electroplating is very short and it does not provide all the necessary details that i was looking for. please try to widen the information given in this article because it is not helping. 196.205.191.92 09:53, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think you must have looed at the electroplating section in this article, not the main article on electroplating, which is probably about as long as it should be. However, I have also added links to other related subjects. Peterkingiron 15:36, 9 April 2007 (UTC
This is a cursory write up about plating. One would like to know the intricacies of tin or Zinc plating.Pretty kindergarten stuff
[edit] errata from chemist
Nickel-cobalt plating, like plated wire core memories from the fifties? Brass (alkaline copper zinc cyanide) plating far more common. Most printed circuit board shops did solder plating (ours was Lead Tin Flouborate). Shjacks45 06:30, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] copyediting
Did copyediting on the first section.
I agree the article needs significant expansion. Since the topic is so vast, it might be well to have several articles, as well as links to more technical sources. This is one of those subjects which is hard to throttle, once one gets interested. If my experience is typical, then it would be a service to point readers where to go to find in-depth information.
Also, plating has been important for a long time: there needs to be more said about the development and previous practice.24.130.11.114 (talk) 04:50, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Please add comments at the end (or use the + button). It helps the rest of us if you log in, so that the rest of us know who you are. This article is intended to be a brief overview of the whole subject. You will find more detail in some (at least) of the linked "main" articles. If these are also deficient and you know (or can find out) about the subject, please expand them. Most are not my subject so that I cannot. Peterkingiron (talk) 10:37, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
