I deleted "rescue" (it was to investigate a signal) and "vying for supremacy" which I felt doesn't fit with the image/idea of the books, which is that the situation on tschai is stable.

"Wank" may be slang, but its meaning is not a connnotation but a denotation. It isn't confined to British usage, either. I have corrected the text accordingly. I have also corrected an unfortunate phrasing that implied that 'Wannek' was Vance's original choice of title.

In The Pnume, it's made fairly clear that the Gzhindra are exiled and/or ostracised Pnumekin who now dwell as ghian in the ghaun. In other words, they're former Pnumekin. They aren't explicitly described as upper class, and, in fact, Zap210 makes allusion to the fact that she would be forced to live above ground as a Gzhindra now that she has seen "secrets".
