[edit] Gun Running
I have been a resident of Plainfield, NJ for the past ten years, and I also lived in Plainfield as a child in the 1960's and 1970's. I am curious about what this statement means, written by another reader/editor of Wikipedia:
"Plainfield played an important role in the "Black Power" movement in the 1960s by serving as a gun-running center for the east coast."
Although Plainfield was among several NJ cities which were sites of civil disorder (rioting) in 1967 or 1968, I am puzzled by this statement. Can anyone provide clarification about the "gun-running" reference? Does anyone else agree this reference should be deleted?
- Agree. The reference is unattributed and dates to the anonymous revision on 4 June 2005. It was the only revision made by that author, and was inserted under the stealth edit summary of "geography". It seems highly suspect and should probably be deleted.
Deleted the unsubstantiated information concerning Plainfield ostensibly serving as a "gun-running center."
