I doubt holidays were taken to the European colonies... They are far too distant and transport was far to slow... I think that the explanation of the term was made up... Furius 12:59, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, they would've been long holidays, but I'm fairly sure they existed. Remember Around the World in 80 Days: in 1872, it was possible to travel the world via steamship and rail. I know Brits went on vacation in India. Brutannica 01:50, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
