[edit] Origin

Planet Namek is the first planet to be inhabited by Namekian species, including Demon King Piccolo and Kami, both entities, one being good and one being evil. Planet Namek consists of few specimens and so far in the entire series, not a female Namekian has been even mentioned. The planet does not experience the night, making it day all the time.

[edit] Destruction

Namek perished by the climactic fight of Super Saiya-jin Son Goku against Final Form Frieza with the ki stuggle of a deflective attack by Son Goku versing a destructive energy beam by Frieza, including a previous, concentrated Genki Dama and energy ball (referred to as "Death Ball" in almost all Dragon Ball games). All the creatures on Namek were transported, along with even Captain Ginyu, who turned into a frog.

[edit] New Namek

Bulma used a random planet in the vacuum of space for a new Namek and with a few adjustments, made it look just like the first Namek. Son Goku calls for assistance from the Nameks there, summoning Porunga for more energy for the Genki Dama to defeat Majin Buu once and for all.

[edit] Porunga

Porunga is the Namekian Dragon. Old Kai replies during the fight with Buu that Namek had the first dragon and that it was a cheat that Earth also had a twin dragon. Porunga is very similar to Shenron, if not for his larger body, and knack for granting three wishes instead of one (Earth's dragon, Shenron was given the ability to grant more than one wish because of Porunga's abilities). When Earth is destroyed, Son Goku uses Porunga with Vegeta's smart thinking to give him the strength to turn into a Super Saiyan, thus increasing his power tenfold for the Genki Dama.
