Planet 51 is an upcoming animated film directed by Jorge Blanco and written by Joe Stillman. Produced by Ilion Animation Studios for $60 million, it was acquired for US distribution by New Line Cinema in November 2007. Planet 51 is slated to be released July 24th 2009.

In November 2007, New Line Cinema acquired Planet 51 from Ilion Animation Studios while it was still in production. The film, costing $60 million, will finish production by March 2009.[1]
