Pizza saver

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pizza saver is a device used to prevent the cardboard from the top of a pizza box from collapsing in at the center and touching the cheese or toppings on the pizza within. It is most commonly made of plastic and looks much like a table with three (and sometimes four) legs. Pizza savers are often white in color. The common practice is to place one pizza saver in the center of the pizza after it is cooked and before it is delivered. The pizza saver is then removed before eating. The pizza saver is not used, as some people may believe, to hold the cheese in place. Another false belief is that the pizza saver is a decoration. The main and only function of the pizza saver is to hold up the center of the box.
