[edit] Improving this Article...
I've removed the Guilds section, I don't think advertising guilds is appropriate for Wikipedia (no other MMORPG articles that I checked listed guilds), and it was attracting non-NPOV listings, I'd also previously cut the article down to basically a summary. Detailed info (eg what I've written below) probably isn't needed until closer to the game's release (when we might actually know some more concrete details) Mako 02:59, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
This needs a major rewrite, currently it's just a copy/paste from the game's website. I think it needs to cover:
- combat being ship based rather than avatar based
- the skill system (what we know of it anyway)
- the difference between pirate / navy / adventurer (eg valid ships)
- the nations England / France / Spain / Pirate
- PvP and conquest rules
- the ship archetypes hunter / dreadnought / scout
- FLS's overseas plans
- navigation map / combat instances
and no doubt other things I've forgotten Mako 05:26, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- I think it would also be a good idea to mention the User Content system which is one of the defining characteristics of this mmorpg. --Wormywyrm 10:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Is the "Key Features" section appropriate for an objective article? It seems to be more of an advertisement. --75.60.195.134 00:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- I was thinking the same thing. Removed. 82.95.254.30 18:26, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Advertisement
The last two sections read as advertisements. Especially the first one.--Cloak' 19:36, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Attempted to try and resolve that. 213.106.233.77 12:37, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rewrite
I've tried my best at a rewrite. Some sections are still obviously missing, but so be it. Sebastian Krog, Denmark 11:34, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] References
Added references reganding releasedates, spec requirements and the SOE publishing deal. I removed the 'more references' tag because the rest of the info is, as stated by the 'future release' tag, not nececarilly reliable. If if references to the devlogs were given (which is a good idea for future updates), the information would still not be fully reliable. Sebastian Krog, Denmark 15:31, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Chat channel
Please stop adding IRC channels as if they are official resources. The only official IRC channel for PotBS in on irc.coldfront.net 84.139.108.54 13:31, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Secret Societies?
This section doesn't seem very relevant. There's no mention of it anywhere on the official forums, the official site, etc. If it really is that covert I don't think it rises to the level of significance needed for a wiki article. Dremac 22:56, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
I have to agree, I am removing this section unless someone can come up with a valid reason for it's relavance. Martinj63 21:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
In speaking with a developer from Flying Labs over IRC, there are no plans for player run secret socities, although there may quest surrounding SS. Martinj63 21:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Minor correction
The MMO Delta Green is not on indefinite hold just on hold correction made. Martinj63 22:00, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] monthly fee
Does anyone know if there is a monthly fee for this game like other MMO's? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.10.220.189 (talk) 20:17, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Correct. Basic fee is $15 per month, with discounts if you purchase a longer subscription time. You can also access the game using SOE's "All Access Pass", which allows you to play all of SOE's game for one flat monthly fee. --Junior612 (talk) 01:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Blog
In how much is Pirates of the Burning Sea Blog an official website? --Mopster (talk) 16:03, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Future Tense?
The article uses the future tense ("players will be able to ...") which is no longer relevant since the game has been publically released. Funkyj (talk) 02:10, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
