Piracy in Nigeria

The frequency of piracy in Nigerian waters is among the highest in the world.[1] [2] From January 1, 2007 to October 15, 2007, twenty-six pirate attacks were recorded.[1] Piracy is especially common in the Niger Delta region in the southeast of country, where law enforcement is scarce and waterways are numerous (see also Conflict in the Niger Delta).[3]
