[edit] Fair use for B movie
This image is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (DCGeist) believe it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a low-resolution copy of a movie poster;
- it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the film or poster in any way;
- copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the artwork on another poster; and
- the image adds significantly to the article because it illustrates (a) a significant and representative 1970s B movie by filmmakers who would go onto renown in other forms of the medium and (b) the marketing of such movies during the historical period in question as discused in the accompanying text

- This image illustrates how the film Piranha was promoted during its original US theatrical distribution.
- It is of much lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality).

- This image is used on various websites, so its use on Wikipedia does not make it significantly more accessible or visible than it already is.
- The image is being used in an informative way and should not detract from the original work.
- No free or public domain images have been located for this item.

This image is of a poster, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher or the creator of the work depicted. It is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of posters
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
