Piotr Sołtanowicz

Piotr Sołtanowicz (June 8, 1523, Rozstrzał - July 12, 1592) - was a Polish Renaissance poet and politician.

Sołtanowicz was born at the Rozstrzał castle near Krakow, Poland. At the age of fourteen was sent to the Kraków Academy. After graduation in the age of 17 he attended the University of Paris]. He was studying there for four years. After that he continued education in the University of Königsberg. He convicted there for Lutheranism. In 1550 his father, Aleksander Sołtanowicz - The Marshall of The Polish Royal Court died. He was his oldest son so he inherited his wealth. He was administrating them until 1551 when he started his journey to Germany, France, England, Italy, Spain, Dennmark, Hungary and Austria. He came home in 1556. Before going abroad he started to build a castle-palace Awdaniec. The structure ended in 1563.

In 1557 he married Anna Stankiewicz. He had with her 5 sons and 3 daughters.

Till the end he lived and administrated his wealths. He wrote eight elegies, 40 songs and about 100 other poems.
