Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of the SLM Corporation, commonly known as Sallie Mae. The company is a national leader in the collection industry providing collection services on defaulted debt, with offices located in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania employing 1400 people.

Pioneer is a leader on the Department of Education's student loan collection contract. Through the length of the contract (38 months as of April 2008) Pioneer has collected nearly $500 million for the department, by far the most of any collection agency on the contract. ^[1]
