User:Pingveno/Edit Checking Cheat sheet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a cheat sheet I have made to avoid having to look up the same Wikipedia policies every time I am doing edit checking.

Contents

[edit] User Warnings

Vandalism: {{uw-vandalism1}}, {{uw-vandalism2}}, {{uw-vandalism3}}, {{uw-vandalism4}}, {{uw-vandalism4im}}
Content removal: {{uw-delete1}}, {{uw-delete2}}, {{uw-delete3}}, {{uw-delete4}}
Testing: {{uw-test1}}, {{uw-test2}}, {{uw-test3}}, {{uw-test4}}
Spam linking: {{uw-spam1}}, {{uw-spam2}}, {{uw-spam3}}, {{uw-spam4}}
Other behavior: see Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace.

Warning templates should always be used with the "subst:" keyword, as strongly suggested on Wikipedia:Template substitution. They are shown without subst here to reduce the display space occupied by this table, not to encourage their use without subst. For example, type {{subst:uw-vandalism1}}~~~~ (not {{uw-vandalism1}}) to warn common first-time vandals.

The levels of templates are:

  1. Assumes good faith
  2. No faith assumption
  3. Assumes bad faith; stern cease and desist
  4. Assumes bad faith; strong cease and desist, last warning

[edit] Speedy Deletes

[edit] Criteria

  • Uncontroversial deletes
  • Advertising or other spam without relevant content (but not an article about an advertising related subject)
  • Content not suitable for an encyclopedia
  • Copyright infringement
  • Hoax articles (but not articles describing a notable hoax)
  • Images that are unused, obsolete, violate fair-use policy, or are unencyclopedic
  • Inappropriate user pages
  • Inflammatory redirects
  • Article information that cannot possibly be attributed to reliable sources
  • All attempts to find reliable sources in which article information can be verified have failed
  • Newly-coined words or terms (i.e., neologisms).
  • Overcategorization
  • Patent nonsense or gibberish
  • Redundant templates
  • Subject fails to meet the relevant notability guideline (WP:BIO, WP:MUSIC, WP:CORP and so forth)
  • Vandalism that is not correctable

[edit] Process

Place one of the following tags on the page. If willing to improve the article, place {{holdon}} at top.

Template Synonyms Criteria Used for

The following templates add pages to Category:Candidates for speedy deletion:

{{db}} {{db-reason|reason}}
{{deletebecause|reason}}
{{delbecause|reason}}
{{delete|reason}}
{{d|reason}}
{{Speedy deletion|reason}}
{{Speedy|reason}}
Replace reason with a specific reason for speedy deletion.
Please try to write out a reason that will be comprehensible to non-Wikipedians.

Or, you can use a specific reason template:

{{db-g1}} {{db-nonsense}} CSD G1 Patent nonsense. You can put {{subst:Nonsensepages|page name}} ~~~~ on the user's talk page.
{{db-g2}} {{db-test}} CSD G2 Test page. You can put {{subst:uw-creation1|page name}} ~~~~ on the user's talk page.

{{db-g4}} {{db-repost}} CSD G4 Copies of material that was previously deleted after an XfD discussion. Articles that were only previously speedily deleted do not fall under this category. You can put {{subst:repost-warn|page name}} ~~~~ on the user's talk page.
