[edit] Location of Pine Valley, Pennsylvania
The article states as fact that Pine Valley is located in the Williamsport, PA area, rather than the Philadelphia area, based on a map shown in a 1999 episode. I don't think that map should be taken as gospel for the location of the town for several reasons.
1) Occasionally the characters will drive from PV to NYC within about 90 minutes, which they have said. This is about the right amount of time it would take from Philly to NYC. Williamsport to NYC would take a few hours to drive. 2) They are also within a reasonable driving distance to Atlantic City, also correct from Philly to AC, but certainly not Williamsport to AC. 3) They often have a beach scene, so they would have to be reasonably close to a body of water. This body of water would have to be quite large - large enough that there are also several islands nearby (Babe & Josh were stranded on an island not long ago for a few days), room enough for large yachts (like the Chandler yacht) & at least one boat basin big enough to accommodate them. This would more likely be either the Delaware Bay or perhaps some bay in NJ near the Atlantic Ocean. It's not reasonable for this to be in the Williamsport area. 4) Center City is sometimes mentioned or the characters will be in a scene in what's supposed to be Center City, nearby PV. There is an actual Center City section of Philadelphia in real life. I don't believe there is a Center City section of Williamsport.
These are just a few examples. I would disregard the map from the 1999 episode. Who knows why the map shows it that way...maybe whoever they hired to create the map made a mistake and there wasn't time to correct it or they didn't want to bother. There are many, many, unexplained discrepancies in soaps; babies turn into teenagers in 2 years, one day will be stretched out to a week's worth of shows and then magically the next day it's a week later for them, etc. So, I'd still go with the Philadelphia area as being a much more reasonable location for the town.
