Pinus contorta

  • Description: Tamarack Pine, Pinus contorta subsp. murrayana, foliage and male cones that have shed their pollen in the spring. Two vegetative growth buds are visible behind the male cones and a little out of focus (just to the right, and top left).
  • Viewpoint location: Soda Mountain Road about 1.0 km east of Soda Mountain, Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Estimated location error along road ~200 m.
