[edit] Headline text

There are been another parody on MTV itself hosted by Xzibit called, "Pimp my Bride". There is a clip of the episode on www.thatvideosite.com.

Anybody know if the anyone has sold their pimped cars and what they went for?

I heard, the Beetle was sold on ebay for $5k, I don't think the rest met their reserve price, so therefore it was left unsold Willirennen 16.21 1 mar 2006 (utc)

[edit] The Swan

Over here in Ireland we got the program The Swan a little later than Pimp my Ride, so the Swan became commonly known as "Pimp my Bitch." lol

[edit] Madonna video

Since I do not have access to MTV, I cannot write this on the main page, I heard Madonna had her Ford Transit pimped out by Carisma Automotive, the people who did the cars from the UK show for her new video with heavy reference to the show. Is that worth an inclusion? Willirennen 16.27 1 mar 2006 (utc)

[edit] Boondocks episode

Pimp My Ride was featured along with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on an episode of The Boondocks.

Template:Spoiler In this episode, Riley cons the shows to improve the car and house respectively, disguising his granddad as a blind person who helps house homeless people. (The plan backfired in the end, when Granddad celebrated after SEEING the improvements to his pimped out ride.) Template:Endspoiler --Geopgeop 10:52, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Seperate Articles (Pimp My Ride worldwide)

There should be seperate Wikipedia:What is an article? regarding all programs (Pimp My Fahrrad, Pimp My Whatever, and Pimp My Wheels). The infobox only includes the U.S. version of Pimp My Ride and focuses only on that show.

[edit] Shirt Grabbing

What is with the "shirt grabbing" at the end of each episode?. Does anyone know the significance?

Its like a aunt pinching cheek of a child combined with people who grap their lapel of a jacket or shirt to show off their clothes. More over it is like the aunt showing pride of approval for that child but a pimp turning out a Ho that he is proud of.

[edit] Xbox Game?

IGN, Gamespy, et. al. all have it listed, but nobody has anything more than a release date and publisher (Activision, obviously as a Viacom subsidiary), and even the publisher doesn't have any information on the game. Does anybody know where one could find something approximating a summary of it? Thanks. Bozaloshtsh 17:45, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Season 6

There has to be a release date of Pimp My Ride Season 6. Professional Gamer 16 October 2006

[edit] Can I remove the criticisms section?

The criticism section seems pretty irrelevant, it consists of one link to an article which doesn't actually discuss Pimp My Ride or anything to do with the programme:

http://arts.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,,1864252,00.html

It's someone who objects to the casual use of the word "pimp", but that's where the article's connection with PMR stops. There's no evidence in the article that the author has ever even watched PMR, they don't even discuss it at all. It's about the word "pimp", not the TV programme that uses that word in its title.

[edit] An Interesting Idea

How about we can design the tables to place it in the vehicle's names, owners, conditions and special parts placed. Does that sound good? Professional Gamer 25 October 2006

[edit] "Rumors About Pimp My Ride"

of course the entire thing is scripted! I mean just looking at it you can tell all the one liners are given to the mechanics and xzibit by the director. The only section that is not scripted is the part where the person 1st sees their new ride. But even if it wasn't scripted, could you imagine the logistics nightmare of trying to have everyone's lines, actions, and reactions perfectly fit the show format? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.99.96.154 (talk) 11:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC).

Heck I've stood there watching 2 shows being filmed. Car owner says how a dent was made... crew writer tells her what would sound better on camera. Car owners house?...nope... dozens of miles from the car owners house. Surprised that Xzibit comes to the door??? Yeah right, all scripted. I love the show but it would be too tough to do all this on the fly and have good tv. 72.129.87.69 09:57, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyrighted material ?

The following part of the article:
Much of the appeal of the show comes from the personalities involved. The WCC employees are an eclectic mix of outgoing personalities, such as:

  • Owner Ryan (who was preceded by the good-natured manager Q),
  • The appropriately named Big Dane,
  • Electronics (and outrageous engineering) expert Mad Mike,
  • Tough-looking interior and fabric maven Ish,
  • The heavily pierced tire-specialist Alex, and
  • Paint and body expert Buck.

So.. what's up with that ?

[edit] list of the crew

maybe an idea to add a list of the crew and the season they appeared in. Preferably with pictures or a group picture with numbers.

I spotted two of the crew at an airport in holland, but I don't know their names or where I can find those. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.170.27.83 (talk) 18:40, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help correct Corrected a Season 3 line item

There is currently a line item for the Chevy S10: "This truck was the first one to feature a tattoo graphic art & not some stencil art you see on all customized cars.". This statement has obvious problems, but would best be fixed by someone with a better overview of the show to that point than myself. The grammar in the statement is so poor I am likely to just delete it soon, but there might be a valid point in there. --Charles Gaudette 16:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

DONE. -- "The exterior was painted black metallic with air brushed graphics on the sides and hood." --Charles Gaudette 07:36, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pays for it

Is it specified in the article or anywhere else who pays for the modifications Link287 17:30, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This is what I think of Pimp My Ride

I won't give any names in particular, because this probably covers pretty much all of the people who had their rides pimped. The cars were probably normal at first, but the owner of the car will first make lots of alterations (e.g. key, make a mess, ruin the upholstery, dent, etc.), then show the car off in a video as if that's the way the car really were. In reality, the person PROBABLY intentionally messed their car up just so they could have their ride pimped. Looks can be deceiving on television, but this is one where it can be more obvious to some viewers. 131.191.64.130 23:28, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pimp My Ride logo.jpg

Image:Pimp My Ride logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Boy, what a TAME article!!

Is this article MTV-controlled or what? Or has been accused for libel anytime? I have read so much criticism and back infos of the show on the web, but I can't find anything critical here - just a wave of base flattery and stuff ... Well, would anyone SERIOUSLY think these people are still running around in THOSE cars with $18,000 or more stuff built in? Those would give perfect magnets for thieves wouldn't they? Rob out one car and get electronics worth the same as those of 10 cars! And we DO know how carelessly especially women leave their car keys sitting inside the keyholes, going outside the car for some cigarettes, cell phone rings, they get distracted ... and all that ... don't we? -andy 85.180.253.181 (talk) 21:53, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Yepp, this is a fanzine article: Germany's Autobild found out - PMR is all fake! [1] (in German) -- 87.168.25.10 (talk) 12:54, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mad Mike ain't a real freelancer

Mad Mike is no freelancer. He was Manager of WCC, quit there and signed at GAS. It Probably has to do with that big fight between WCC and MTV, he well known in the Car Tuning Scene so it was probably him who helped MTV find a new "shop" and signed there as manager. http://www.cmimadmike.com/default.aspx?p=21 --85.179.52.10 (talk) 07:26, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
