Talk:Pillow
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
What did people use if they didn't use pillows? I don't know the answer but it'd make an excellent addition to the article. Cburnett 00:40, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I know Jacob used a rock for a pillow in the Bible, shortly before becoming Israel. >.> relevant?
- Perahps, but even if Jacob's story is not relevant. In China's history, it was very common for people to use a stoneware box as a pillow and is still practiced by some today. I think that is definitely a necessary addition. --~ Jared ~ 01:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
pile of clothes or anything soft to put head on.usually pillows aren't required for sleep, unless you sleep on something hard like wood/stone surface.

[edit] Clean up
I just wanted to say that i'm going to start cleaning up this page, it's not nearly done, I'm also going to see if I can get some references for it.Latulla 01:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia?
I disagree that the "other uses" section is really a trivia section. Some of the uses are marginal and probably not worth having in the article, but the rest are entirely relevant as general points (for instance the use of pillows as murder weapons, especially in movies. If it listed every movie that used it this way, then that's trivia). Ciotog 11:29, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

- Is there any proof that a pillow has ever made an effective murder weapon? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.161.150.2 (talk) 03:05, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Style
This article has glaring problems with written English, especially sentence construction and tenses. Whatever the tagged issues may be for content, it won't improve unless someone who can write above 5th grade gets to work on it. Me, I'm too wedded to my pillows to even try btw. [edit] Husband
I've heard this style often called a husband, but where did the name come from? Can anyone find a first use? -kslays (talk • contribs) 20:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- No, I dont have a citation or anything, but Ive always pictured a woman lying in bed with her arms around the pillow, the way she would embrace her husband. I've even seen one very literal husband pillow that has an arm so it can hug back. That was in Japan. Soap Talk/Contributions 21:58, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
