[edit] "represented as if he saw his also upcoming death in the Christ's face"

It seems to me that Nicodemus (Titian) is looking at Mary rather than at Christ. This struck me as particularly poignant when I saw the painting recently in L'Accademia. Check the eyelines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boygobbo (talk • contribs) 19:00, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
