Pick gliss

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pick gliss is a guitar technique that is performed by holding the edge of the pick against the strings (usually the B, G, and D strings, simultaneously) and sliding the pick down the strings, while rapidly moving the pick up and down. Pick glisses are used quite often by Angus Young (AC/DC). They can be heard in the songs "Thunderstruck" and "Kicked In The Teeth", among others.

In order to be done properly, the pick being used needs to be rough on the edge touching the strings. If a guitarist plans on using pick glisses, he/she would need to "roughen up" one of the edges of a new pick by scraping it against a nail file, serrated knife, etc..
