[edit] Philpot article

I agree, it doesn't appear to be an attack page. However, I think it does meet another speedy delete criterion, WP:CSD#A7, assertion of actual notability. I've revise the tag, but haven't deleted the page. I'll let someone else come along and review the article and your hangon statement. --barneca (talk) 20:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, well, it's already gone. I'm going to put our standard "band notability" template here anyway, so you can see our inclusion criteria for bands. And, below that, I thought after your rough start you could do with a welcome. --barneca (talk) 20:49, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Philpot requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. barneca (talk) 20:49, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, the bad news keeps on coming. I've deleted your userpage as a copyright violation of the facebook page. We can't just take your word for it that you're an "official". In any case, it couldn't have survived as is, anyway; definitely not encyclopedic in tone. Sorry you had a rocky start. let me know if you have any questions. --barneca (talk) 20:57, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your article, etc.

Hi there. I was going to try to get to you first, but my computer screwed up and Barneca beat me to it (he types way too fast)! Anyhoo, welcome to Wikipedia. The article you created did need to be deleted; it was copied from the band's web page with no indication that permission was given. All text on Wikipedia is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License, and any material copied from elsewhere needs to be explicitly freely licensed or released into the public domain. The band's web site had no notice that the material was freely licensed, so the article was able to be deleted based on this section of our speedy deletion policy. I don't think that the assertion of notability section applies to the article because the article asserts that the music is featured on several television networks. This assertion doesn't mean that the article could have stayed forever, it still must show that the subject meets our notability guideline and could be deleted as the result of a deletion discussion, but it could have stayed a bit longer if it had not been copied from the band's web site. One other thing, you may want to create another account for yourself; this one should be blocked because it's being used to promote the band, and that makes it a violation of our username policy. I know there's a lot of text here, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} and your question on your user talk page, and someone will be around shortly to help. [edit] Please take some time to read this before recreating

Please don't recreate that article, we can't accpet it in its current form. Please take some time to read the messages WODUP and I left you above; if you don't address these concerns, I'm afraid the article is just going to keep getting deleted, and you may end up blocked. --barneca (talk) 21:19, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
