The Philosophiocal explative is an entity all his own on the site of Wikipedia. He has known knowledge of the world around him, and at the same time, has no clue of the real world he lives in. So is his curse in this forsaken place. Anyway, he understands people on a scientific level, not a religious one. However, he isn't an athiest, he only trys to approach daily matters in a more realistic method.
