It has reference to new heading "Famous People". Except the name of Sarwan Singh MLA, I doubt that the other personalities qualify to be there. If the name of Sarwan Singh is to be there, then there are large number of people whose name should be included in it. Secondly, it is surprising to learn that a name of an Advocate is appearing there. As I understand, the rules of Bar council does not allow such type of publication for any practising lawyer. If it is to be there, then the concerned lawyer must be aware of it and give consent for inclusion of his name. Thirdly, if the lawyers from Phillaur are to be included and evaluated, then as per my records, the law courts were established in 1933. The first lawyer to be registered then was one Pandit Sham Lal who later shifted to Jalandhar and established his name. Similarly, some of the earlier lawyers were Shri Harphool Chand the father of Suresh Goel a practising lawyer, then Pran Nath, Shri Mehan, Shri Sohan Lal, Pandit Gurdas Ram and there are many more to be counted. Then some of the lawyers have established their names in leading judgements concerning Civil Cases in PUnjab and Haryana High court who are also from Phillaur. All these facts can be verified at the local level and from the records. Hence, it should be removed or a more authenticated list be prepared.
If the famous people list has to be displayed then there are people in the field of Business who have left their mark. I believe that it will not be out of place to mention Friends Autos(S. Malhotra, the owner) which had been Original Part supplier to many leading auto manufacturer. Similarly there were Sembhi people and Landhara people who had made their name and fortune in agriculture implements. Similarly, there should be mention of leading role of these factories in producing 'TOKA' a status which was later displaced by industry at Goraya.(One must remember that Phillaur was a junction and as per the theories of Urbanization, the transportation and situation of a town in a trade route matters) and Then, there should be mention of raw hide market of Phillaur on Nurmahal road. Similarly, Dhiman family had been in forefront in introducing Solar devices in the region. Similarly, a family from Chokran, now residing at Ram Nivas, had been producing Himalaya Potteries which had remained a fashion statement during their times. I can put all this information on the main page but I believe that the master editors must check it first. Otherwise, include the name of Kese tha Hotel also of Shadi Lal family which is otherwise known as Park Plaza Hotel. Then there was Pali of Pali Hotel, Mayaram Burfi wala, Chacha Pakode wala, and similar names.
The most startling omission is the people who were associated with Police Training Academy which is now going to have a deemed university status also. Then there are some leading Military and Police High Ranking Officials who had made their name.
I have been watching the contents of the articles on the various cities of Punjab. I have observed that there have been attempt to project specific groups on Wikipedia which are against the established rules. I suggest that the editors must look into it. I have identified it and marked it in case of a town of Ropar District. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumir Sharma (talk • contribs) 23:47, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
