[edit] What's in a Name?

"Philip James" vs "Philippe Jacques" is confused, but both old and modern EB for instance opt for anglicized, since he spent most of his life in London and presumably favored the English form as a result. Stan 04:36, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I doubt he presumed the anglicized version of his name - he appears on most playbills as "Mr. de Loutherbourg", if he was anglicized why not change this too? (Perhaps to "Leatherbag"? - See Sheridan's The Camp) He probably didn't forget his ancestory and spoke with a French accent throughout his life. Most references both contemporary and modern refer to him as "Philippe Jacques" or "Philippe James", i've never seen the use of "Philip". Lord Foppington (talk) 13:47, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Please note that the link to Robert Barker, scottish painter in the eighteenth century renonwned for his invention of the panorama painting comes out on the page about bob barker, popular game show host in the US - shouldn't there be done something about this? please do! I wish I knew how...

There is no Wikipedia page for Robert Barker, so I've removed the link Lord Foppington (talk) 13:35, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
