Phillip Town is a village in the Lower Styria Region of Slovenia.
It was established in 1916 when a Company of Commonwealth troops lead by Major Phillip Stanton of Hastings. They were attacked by a small detachment of Romanian soldiers. They won the battle but decided to settle with the injured when they realized it was a fertile and relatively un-war-torn area.
The Town Council has traditionally been made up of the Town Mayor, Town Mananger, Town Planner, and also strangely the Town Baker.
[edit] Settlement Problems
Phillip Town is not a registered town in Slovenia because of the fact that it was never registered itself because of the hostility of the government towards it. The government does not want a town where English is the main language spoken and also a town where the male citizens have all been trained in combat but are not part of the armed forces.
Because of this the town is not in the database, its mail is not delivered and the residents are not counted in the census. Most citizens to counteract this have been registered as being citizens living in the town of Maribor. So they are offically part of Slovenia.
[edit] Unusual Politics
Phillip town is renown for its unusual political stance. More than three quarters of its previous mayors have had Phillip as either their first or last name. This is due to the unusual favouring of this name by the citizens of Phillip Town, presumedly due to the name of the town itself being Phillip Town. This along with the fact that the Town Baker is traditionally a part of the Town Council has caused it to be nominated to the Guiness Book of Records multiple times, however the town is yet to receive an award.
