From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Born in Lewes, a small town just outside of Brighton, Phil Hobden is the UK producer behind such independent feature films as Left For Dead and Ten Dead Men. Listed on the IMDB, Hobden also writes for Combat, Vengeance and IMPACT Magazine (the UK action martial arts film & TV magazine).

From studying media at Brighton Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College (BHASVIC) in Brighton, Hobden continued his studies with a media production degree at university, the acclaimed Carlisle Insitute Of The Arts where he directed a further 10 short films, including the award winning 'Blue Eyes'.

In 1998 he saw his first feature film in development, the darkly comic 'Brighton Born, Brighton Dead' which sat with Miramax UK for over 2 years. Eventually the relationship broke down and the screenplay was lost into development hell.

Hobden was offered the chance to work on the Dave Courtney gangster action film Hell To Pay in 2000/2001 but turned it down, instead focusing on setting up his own business, the media production house Modern Life?

In 2002 Hobden and his long time collaborator/director Ross Boyask teamed up again after almost 4 years to start work on their first feature film, the low-budget now cult, martial arts action feature Left For Dead.

Finished in late 2004, the film was Released in the US to rave reviews in September 2005 and then eventually in the UK in March 2007. In addition the film can be seen in over 20 international territories.

His latest film Ten Dead Men is directed by Boyask and stars a host of the UK's best talent including Brendan Carr, Pooja Shah, former Steps singer Lee Latchford-Evans, JC Mac, Silvio Simac, Terry Stone and more.

Ten Dead Men sees Brendan Carr star as Ryan, a former killer gone straight who is dragged violently back into the life he left behind... with brutal and bloody consequences. With action by famed Hong Kong stunt man Jude Poyer (28 Weeks Later, Hitman starring Jet Li, and many more), and executive produced by legendary David Hannay (of Stone and The Man From Hong Kong fame) and Anthong I Ginnane.

At the same time Hobden runs an online martial arts action comic book, Night Warrior (www.nw-comic.co.uk) which is based on a short film made by Modern Life? in 1994.

Again with Ross Boyask he has also started to expand Modern Life? into film sales with PulpMovies.co.uk, which will soon be releasing UK action films Infestation and The Silencer.
