Phil Cullen is a graduate of the University of New England (Psychology) where he was Secretary of the Students Representative Council for a time and helped kick start community broadcasting in Australia, as Coordinator of Radio UNE and 2ARM (1995-1997). He set out to revitalise the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and currently walks for a living.
He is a journalist, media manager & producer who worked as Development Coordinator for ABC Radio, Manager ABC Coast FM, Manager 612 ABC Brisbane, Manager 105.7 ABC Darwin, Manager 774 ABC Melbourne and General Manager TripleJ (1983-2003). He was Program Coordinator, Journalist, Morning Show Presenter, Music Coordinator and Presenter/Producer of the Brisbane Line at 4ZZZ (1997-1983).
He launched 105.7 ABC Darwin, 8DDD, helped develop ABC Radio's early web presence, mentored the establishment of Speaking Out [1]and Awaye[2] and has several awards for program production in News, Community Affairs and Music.
He provides training and support in media research, writing, presentation and production and leads media production, development, training & management projects ...working as webmaster for Pacific Asia Tourism [3](2003+).
He teaches Broadcast and On Line Journalism [4] at Griffith University, is Radio Training Coordinator for the Australian Film Television and Radio School in Queensland and leads walking tours for interNATIONAL PARKtours [5].
