Photographed in central North Carolina, USA, by Patrick Edwin Moran. This jumping spider is of the genus Phidippus, the species is probably whitmani. Behaviorally this spider is different from Phidippus audax (which it also resembles) by being both rather shy and also rather inclined to make a threat display. Its body is approximately 8 mm. long.
