[edit] 1100 "hides" of land
The remark about 1100 hides of land surprises me. As 5 hides of land would have supported one fully armed soldier, then 1100 would have supported 220 (a small army), ie this land area would have been about 500 square kilometers. This should be corroborated by citations, otherwise it is more likely to be a typo. --Aethralis 09:08, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
