Welcome!
Welcome to Wikipedia, PetriFB! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)
I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan. 13:16, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. --HIZKIAH (User • Talk) 18:36, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Linking
I have removed two links you added to Historical Jesus and Historicity of Jesus. I suggest that you please read WP:EL and also WP:COI if the site is your own webpage. Links, like article content, are kept at a high standard. They have to be from reliable, published sources. Original research is just as bad in links as it is in article content. Our links must be sourced and verifiable and not-self published. Instead of adding links to articles, why not use your knowledge to contribute to improving actual article content. You could do something as simply as copy editing and spell checking to more complex edits like expanding and sourcing content. Hope this helps.-Andrew c 16:10, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] April 2008
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I note that you were warned last year, so you clearly know what you are doing. Thanks about feedback. Links to ancient Rome and Egypt sites were not my sites. PetriFB
