[edit] External links

Hi Peter, just thought I'd drop by to welcome you to Wikipedia, and to give you a few helpful links leading to policies and guidelines that are at the heart of the project. You can find many of these at the five pillars of Wikipedia, most important are the verifiability and neutral point of view policies, but also important are a number of other policies, such as the copyright policy, and the external links guide. Regarding your addition of a YouTube video to the New World Order (conspiracy), I've removed it, because the external links guide states: "Direct links to documents that require external applications (such as Flash or Java) to view the relevant content." What this basically means is, YouTube requires users to have an application installed to view videos, and those types of external links should be avoided on Wikipedia. Additionally, YouTube has copyright issues, as a great many of the videos there are copyrighted by other organizations, and not free to distribute. I realize that Wikipedia is a very large place with a lot of policies and guidelines, but hopefully this will get you off to a good start. For additional information, you can see the help page, or the following pages for assistance: Cite your sources, Manual of style, Layout guide, First article, Article development and How to edit. Hope that's useful to you! Cheers, ArielGold 19:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
