АВТОБІОГРАФІЯ кандидата на пост Президента України Симоненка Петра Миколайовича

Народився у м. Донецьку 1 серпня 1952 року. Громадянин України. Батько – Симоненко М.І. довгий час працював трактористом, зараз – пенсіонер, проживає у м. Донецьку. Мати – Симоненко М.І. працювала санітаркою в лікарні. Померла у 1986 році. В 1974 р. з відзнакою закінчив Донецький політехнічний інститут, гірничий інженер-електромеханік. Працював у інституті “Дондіпровуглемаш”, на комсомольській роботі. У 1982 – 1988 р.р. секретар ЦК ЛКСМУ. Потім на партійній роботі: секретар Маріупольського міськкому, секретар, другий секретар Донецького обкому Компартії України. У 1991 році закінчив Київський інститут політології і соціального управління, політолог. Після антиконституційної заборони Комуністичної партії два роки працював заступником директора виробничої корпорації “Укрвуглемаш”. В цей досить складний період історії нашої країни вів роботу щодо згуртування однодумців, підготовки до відродження партії комуністів. У червні 1993 р. на з’їзді відновленої Компартії України обраний першим секретарем ЦК. З березня 1994 р. – народний депутат України, керівник фракції комуністів у Верховній Раді України. Одружений. Дружина Симоненко С.В. – економіст, тимчасово не працює. Маю двох синів: старший – юрист-економіст, молодший – врач-хірург, двох онуків. Ні я, ні мої близькі родичі під судом і слідством не знаходились.

Does anyone know whether or not Symonenko had any role in the events of the Orange Revolution after the first round of the elections? I never heard anything about him in the media and I can't find anything about this issue after a brief Internet search either. It would be interesting to have in the article, since his party was the third largest in Parliament at the time. Academic Challenger 22:21, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

His Party faction in the Parliament was notorious for being the most disciplined and reliable to vote for the cash bonus and nothing else, thus being devoid of the communist ideology (or any other ideology for that matter). As an unideologic in its essense party it took played do significant role in the O.R. for either side. It supported the Political Reform in Ukraine though, if I remember correctly. --Irpen 02:57, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
