Claiming never to have done worse than second to the House of Lords in sporting events, reminds me of the joke about TASS. The joke goes that a loss to the U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations by the U. S. S. R. Ambassador to the United Nations in a sprint down 1st Avenue in Manhattan would have been reported as follows: "In a race between ambassadors, the Permanent Representative of the Soviet Union to the United Nations finished second; the ambassador from the United States finished next to last."
