'Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold,
Her early leafs a flower,
But only so a hour,
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay'.
Robert Frost
Give brief discripton of yourself:
I'm 36, about yea high, dark hair - with a grey streak running thru it ( which has lent close friends, at various times to nickname me; 'gypo kev', 'the silver streak' and my personal favorite 'King of the Badgers') i have brown eyes, size eight feet and am right handed.
Present occupation:
An assistant in a social work field team (we counsell fields, there there you have a lot going for you, look at all those lovely daisies you have growing...) current job title being reviewed: possiblities are: care assistant, social work assistant, dogsbody or oi! you (my personal favourite) - favourite social worker joke: how many social workers does it take to change a light bulb? don't know, but while you are waiting, 12 will write a report entitled 'coping with the darkness'...
Present abode:
A small village somewhere in darkest Fife. Nothing but fields at the back of our house, rabbits frolick in our garden and eat my wife's plants, moles dig tunnels under our lawn(s) and there is a fox that regulary patrols the bottom of our garden. I am currently awaitng the return of the swifts (or swallows, i am not that great an ornithologist, nor care, for the birds know not) as they use the space above our garden as a battle ground and are far more entertaining than any hollywood blockbustering war film.
Hobbies/pastimes/interests:
I grow bonsai trees (the use of the term 'grow' in regards to bonsai, can be somewhat of an oxomoron {or maybe just on the cusp of an oxomoron, an oxovillageidiot} i rather try and not kill the bloody things! This hobbie consists of looking at trees a lot, sketching them (well...sketching is stretching the term seriously) and generally trying to be a tree, man.
I practice TaeKwonDo, ITF UKTKD, which is the semi-contact form (Olympic TKD is full contact). I'm currently a 5th kup, which is a blue belt. I use to train 2/3 times a week, could kick well above my head, defeat some of the 1st Dan black belts during sparring and kick my way thru a 3/4 inch wooden plank (very handy if the furniture of Ikea ever tries to take over the world), but i havn't been able to train regular for a few years (young family, would rather spend time with the kids than jump about like an idiot {although that is what i seem to do a lot with the kids!}) and would be lucky if i could keep up with the beginners now. The reason i picked TKD is that you can concentrate on the artistic side as well as developing the martial side, I just liked the idea of being able to control my body better, i am somewhat of a 'steckie' - a Fifer term for clumsy - and TKD helped me gain better control of my body movements - although it has to be said that I am more a danger to myself than others
I read, i read everything, backs of cereal boxes, shampoo bottles, (until i started keeping a book in the toilet),the fine print on anything, i hate having a moment or two on my hands and not having anything to read.
And of course i love spending time in Wikiville. I discovered it by accident, as a lot do, and have been exploring ever since.
