Hmmm. I removed what I saw as substandard text from the main Persian literature article, and it turns up here, in what is now labeled the "main article". I hope there's not going to be a problem if I revise this article too.

One thing that could be useful, and allow us to cooperate, would be to make lists of published translations into various languages, so that those who were interested in exploring further, and didn't read Farsi/Persian, could see what was available. Would need help from non-English speakers. I suspect that there would be a number of translations into French and German that aren't matched by anything in English. Zora 21:43, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Articles re various literary traditions do not exist to puff that tradition as the best in the world. The careful selection of quotes to praise Persian literature to the skies is just plain ... ridiculous.

Sure, it is a noble tradition. But so is Russian literature, or Chinese literature, or French literature, or Japanese literature. If you look at those articles, you'll see that they avoid comparisons with other literatures. They'll discuss famous authors IN that literature, but they don't rank their tradition over others.

It's not racist to point out that the article is flawed. I'm no enemy of Persian literature. I have stacks of books on Rumi, Sa'di, Hafiz. I was the final editor on two volumes of Persian literature that we turned into e-books at Distributed Proofreaders! I helped make classics of Persian literature available for free to anyone who cared to download them. Gutenberg texts 10315 and 13060. What have you done for Persian literature lately? Zora, we would really appreciate it you stopped making inflammatory ethnicity-related comments like this. If there are any problems with the article, be specific and provide sourced counter arguments. --ManiF 10:29, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

You're assuming that nationalism is all about ethnicity and that therefore any reference to nationalistic sentiments is therefore about ethnicity. There's also CIVIC nationalism, which is prevalent in the U.S. Read the nationalism] article, do, before you jump to conclusions. Zora 16:50, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
