Pernis (Netherlands)

Pernis is a village and district of the municipality of Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands. The district has a population of 4560 (2005) on a total area size of 1.60 km². Pernis is not a full submunicipality (deelgemeente) of Rotterdam, but the former independent municipality nevertheless has its own district council.
Pernis was a separate municipality until 1934, when it became part of Rotterdam.
