Perfect Dark Zero was originally meant to be released on the Nintendo GameCube, but, when Rare was sold to Microsoft, Rare redesigned it for the Xbox. It was not finished in time so it was finally released on the Xbox 360.

On October 15, 2007, GameGuru Speculated that Rare have been working on a sequel to the original Perfect Dark since completing Perfect Dark Zero in 2005, and will reveal more information and "something to look at" in 2008. The game is rumoured to feature a morality system similar to create a variety of branches in the storyline itself.^[1]
