Perella Weinberg Partners L.P. is a boutique investment bank based in New York and London. It was founded in 2006 as a partnership by Wall Street legends Joseph R. Perella and Peter Weinberg. The firm specializes in corporate advisory and investment management services.

[edit] History

Due to the heated management disputes at Morgan Stanley star bankers Joseph Perella (Vice-Chairman) and Tarek Abdel-Meguid (Head of Investment Banking) abruptly left the firm in November of 2005. Perella and Abdel-Meguid then decided to create a new boutique advisory firm and quickly began to raid other top Wall Street banks for talent. In January of 2006 the unnamed firm announced it would be bringing aboard Peter Weinberg, CEO of Goldman Sachs International (the bank's European arm). On June 15, 2006 Joseph Perella announced the official formation of Perella Weinberg Partners L.P. In addition, Perella indicated that the boutique had been able to secure over US $1 billion in seed capital from 11 investors including Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Istithmar, Gulf Investments Corporation and eight family investor groups.

In November of 2006 Perella Weinberg Partners announced the acquisition of Kramer Capital Partners, an investment banking firm based in Stamford, CT.
