Peregrino

Peregrino is an oil field located offshore Brazil in the southwest part of the Campos Basin area. The location is 85 km of the coast and water depth is 100 meters. Peregrino is a heavy crude oil of 13.8 API and with high viscosity. Sulfur content is 1.8 wt % which is considered medium sour. Estimated recoverable volume of crude oil is 300 - 600 millions barrels. Production start is planned to be in 2010. The field was originally planned to be operated by Anadarko with StatoilHydro as 50%; however, on March 4th, 2008 StatoilHydro bought Anadarko's 50% share of the oil field for 1.8 billion USD. The field was formerly known as Chinook.
