- I love the outdoors, but I love offices too. Always have. My office at home is my favorite room in the house. I also love working in offices: The people, the desks, the phones, the copy machines, the break rooms, the supply rooms. Those of us who do admirable work for great causes - and get to do it in offices - are quite lucky.
- I've done a bit of technical, news, features, grant and curriculum writing and have taught English at most all levels. Despite (or because of) this, when it comes to grammar, I sit comfortably on the descriptivist side of the fence and enjoy starting sentences with but and ending them with prepositions.
- Frank McCourt is the only celebrity I've ever gone out of my way to meet, and I was happy for days afterward. I told him I was teaching in the New York City schools and he told me I was a saint. Oh, and when I was a teenager Harry Kalas asked me how I was hitting, and I filled Mike Schmidt's water glass.
- Wikipedia is awesome. Long live UGC. I don't edit much, but for some reason I do like to keep an eye on Ursinus College, Theology on Tap, and Mike Zagurski.
