[edit] Decommissioned?

With the extension of I-376 expected to take up the bulk of 60's route by 2009, will PA 60 be decommissioned? I would imagine that it would at least be extremely truncated. I could see the portion from I-80 to its intersection with PA 418 becoming an extension of 418 (its southern terminus is with 60), while the part from Robinson to Pittsburgh's west side possibly becoming a spur route of PA 51, as it would not make sense to have a two-digit route so short. (OK, so nearby PA 50 is short, but besides that one.) Route numbers 451, 651, 751, and 951 are available if that were the case. I'll email the idiots at PennDOT to see what's going on. OK, I emailed PennDOT, and they responded that 60 will be truncated to a place in Allegheny County. The route will remain from the West End Bridge to at least the intersection with U.S. 22 & U.S. 30 at the Parkway West. If anyone wants a copy of this email to validate it as a source, email me at jgera5 AT yahoo DOT com, and I will forward the letter for you. Thanks. Jgera5 02:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
