[edit] Edinburgh Crystal

I removed the statement that Edinburgh Crystal was closed, because this doesn't appear to be the case (eg. [1], [2]) ? Please re-add if I'm mistaken. Mrabbits 11:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

You are right, Edinburgh Crystal is still in Penicuik. Most of their production was moved overseas, with the visitor centre, offices, and a little bit of custom manufacturing left in Penicuik. Perhaps this is what was meant by the editor who added it was closed Lurker talk 12:44, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks - I don't suppose you happen to know what the situation is with the paper mills as well? The intro says the last one closed in 1975, but at the bottom of the article it says "the last paper mill has closed 2004". Mrabbits 20:57, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Edinburgh Crystal is now fully closed in Penicuik. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.150.115.170 (talk) 12:45, 13 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Paper mill

The last paper mill in Penicuik did close in 1975, however there was still a paper mill in the neighbouring village of Auchendinny until its closure in 2004. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.250.97.6 (talk) 13:36, 23 April 2007 (UTC).

No the last paper mill definatly closed in 2005, Dalmore was still producing paper up until then for Curtis Fine Papers along with its sister mill in Fife, Garbridge at St Andrews. The paper making machine was moved to Thailand and the site at Dalmore has now gone to housing.
