Penrose High School is a secondary school in the suburb of Penrose in Auckland, New Zealand. It is located in central Auckland.
Penrose High School, shortened to PHS and commonly just called "Penrose" for short, has a student body of 795 and over 50 different cultures.[citation needed]
The board of Penrose have organised buses for students which run daily, every morning and afternoon to transport students who live in various regions in Auckland.
The school started a 15 million dollars upgrade of facilities and computer network from 2006 and is currently still underway. The upgrade is aim to 'modernise the school and ensure that students have access to the very best educational facilities'.[1]
Penrose also offers a community education service[2] for adult education. The courses provided include computing, ESOL and Arts.

There are 4 houses at Penrose High School, which are used mainly for interhouse competitions such as athletics and swimming sports. While these four houses exist for the sake of competition on athletics and swimming sports days, the competition between students is still very small.
The name of each house is a Maori word for a New Zealand indigenous plant.

Penrose High School participates in inter-school sports competitions. Despite a small student body,the school achieved exceptionally in some competitions. Its Girls softball team had won the New Zealand National Championship in 2007[3].
