Pefkos, Greek: Pefki, is a small town located in the south of the Greek island of Rhodes, 56 kilometres (35 mi) from the capital city Rhodes. The island of Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands, just west of Turkey. Pefkos town is built in an old village, which was once known as a fisherman's town and is between the larger towns of Lindos and Lardos. Visiting Pefkos by day will leave one with the impression of a sleepy and relaxed holiday resort, however when the lights come on the resort is bustling with warm friendly activity. Pefkos beach was awarded Blue Flag status for 2006. The beach is busy with tourists during the day and has amenities such as a toilet, several cafes and bars. Pedalos, speed-boats and jet-skis are also available to rent on the beach.
Pefkos is still largely uncommercialised but has many restaurants, tavernas and a few bars. It also has its own beach, which is long but not particularly wide. The town is set against a hill which is surrounded by Pine Trees (which is where the town gets it's name). It is largely visited by Scandinavians, British, Germans and Austrians.
