Pedro is the Spanish and Portuguese version of the name Peter, derived from the word Petros (Greek for rock, from πέτρα or Petra, a translation of the Aramaic Kephas or Cephas), through the Latin Petrus. Sometimes the archaic form Pero or Pêro may occur.
