[edit] pedology not a branch of soil physics

The description had been changed to read:

Pedology is the study of soils and soil formation. It is a branch of soil physics.

I changed it back because neither is a branch of the other. -- Paleorthid 18:11, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Sorry; I was reading the intro of Pedology (soil study) and must have gotten confused. I'll go back and fix the cat. Melchoir 18:23, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] soil type cat versus pedology cat

I disagree that the soil type articles are categorized improperly as pedology articles. It is the proper cat for soil types specific to pedology as the typing system (as opposed to geological, or engineering or wine-grape growing typing systems). This dual categorization approach is consistent with accepted practice within Wikipedia. Note how the articles in Category:Types of cancer are also categorized under the "-ology" responsible for that type. -- Paleorthid (talk) 21:44, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
