Peculiarities of National Hunt (1995) (Russian: Особенности национальной охоты) is the first and most notable "russian national comedy". As soon as the comedy was released it became a nation-wide success in Russia and an absolute leader of Russian box office in 1995. It has won Nika and Kinotavr awards. It was followed by three more "Peculiarities..." films.

Young Finnish specialist in hunting, “finik”, talks his Russian friend into assisting him to participate in a real Russian hunting in order to get to know about habits of real Russian hunters. His flamboyant companions include an Army general, a police detective, local forest ranger (a devotee of Zen Buddhism) and some big-city types from St. Petersburg. These parties (familiar to us) where they drink vodka and then they have amazing adventures, all this is shocking to “finik". But still he doesn't regret about wasted time…
